Minimizing the makespan in the flowshop with sequence-dependent setup times: simulation approach
Lot sizing and scheduling problems are one of the most difficult problems in operational planning of production. By planning activities to make efficient use of the available resources, the manufacturing company's existence and competitiveness are ensured. This paper deals with the simulation of the existing production process, and offers the ability to improve through the reduction of the time required for the processing of defined products. The observed flowshop with multiple processors (FSMP) is taken from the real sector. Based on this, a discrete simulation model was created using the Tecnomatix Plant Simulation software. Within the software itself, the optimization tool is a genetic algorithm that is used to solve the problem of determining the order and size of a product batches with the aim of reducing the total time needed to process a defined product amount. This simulation can be used for any flowshop with multiple processors.
