FNR-TROL interaction impact on photosynthetic electron transfer
Flavoenzime ferredoxin NADP+ oxidoreductase(FNR) catalyses last reaction of electron transfer in the linear electron flow during photosynthesis. FNR is presented as a soluble protein in stroma but also bound to the protein complexes-thylakoid rhodanase-like protein (TROL) and translocon on the inner envelope chloroplast membrane (Tic62). It is envisaged that Fd efficiently passes electrons to alternative pathways when FNR is not sequestered to the TROL. When sequestered, electrons are passed to NADP+ which is reduced to NADPH and then used in Calvin-Benson cycle.
