Optimization of Process Parameters of Wool Printing with Natural Dyes

In this paper, the suitability of screen printing of woollen hand knitted samples with three natural dyes (curcumin-turmeric lat. Curcuma longa ; onion lat. Allium cepa ; walnut lat. Juglans regia) will be presented, as a part of an extensive research including raw material analysis - physically mechanical properties of woollen yarns and knitwear (yarn fineness, twist, diameter, hairiness, strength, knitwear surface mass and thickness) ; optimization of thickener source, dry matter content, dry matter concentration and pH ; examination of rheological properties of thickeners (viscosity, fluidity and elasticity) ; steaming optimization ; wash fastness properties testing. Spectrophotometric analyse has been performed as well as the subjective evaluation of the final product appearance.
