Education Model for Experience Creation in Tourism
Various approaches interplay as models for creation of experiences in Cultural Tourism. Theoretic model claims for analysis and broad comprehension of main forces shaping the ways the actors experience the destination. In-depth trade model aim to take hands-on experience on upgrading existing and developing new channels of destination experience. Empirical model in practise mostly by stakeholders interested in exploit of destination benefits, is manifested in daily routines and bottom-up approach to comprehension of experience within the tourist stay. All of these three models are discussed and represented with their forces and weaknesses. The fourth model, proposed as a speculative one is a educational model in which actors are students and educators. This model is suitable for destinations with strong higher education institutions which could back-up the activities aim to create new cultural experiences. The potential value of this model is twofold: students are mobile and are themselves a kind of tourists, besides that students mentored by professors create proposals for new experiences in the city as a destination. This model is a provocative as it challenges traditional long term based education process through method of workshops, festivals and summer workshops. As an example for this model the case of University of Zadar is taken, a strong university centre and a longlasting tourist destination at the Adriatic coast. By two already established activities: students' festival Ritam kulturizma (The Rythm of Culturism) and summer school Zadar 2020, and their results, chapter discusses potential of this model in creation of new cultural experiences. Plus, paper explores similar examples from elsewhere as to conclude whether this model could represent a trend or it should just be seen as a sole example for other to follow, eventually.
