Rijeka, Zagreb, Berlin, Paris oder Toscana - Räume der Erinnerungen oder der Wahnsinn als letzter Zufluchtsort der Opfer. "Belladonna" und "EEG" von Daša Drndić
Daša Drndić openly and without reservation discusses the already controversially conducted discourses about the Second World War, the Holocaust, migration, exile, camps and extermination. In her latest novels, Belladonna (2012) and EEG (2016), she even goes one step further, by unbearably discussing and questioning the daily, present life interwoven with experiences, events and stories from the past, with illness, suffering, dying and death. The presented facts and events shape the victim theme and illuminate it from different aspects. It is though about the temporal, spatial and historical aspect. It deals with all those victims, who, in sociopolitical respect, had to suffer existential but also and especially mental as well as physical (caused by malignant diseases) damages and became victims of social systems and orders. Often these are reflected by criticism on Daša Drndić’s life itself.
