Development and Field Experience of Third Generation Level Crossing Control System

The paper describes KLC3 – Level Crossing Control system based on proprietary Safety Platform. It gives a short overview of the system architecture, subsystems and communication channels. Furthermore, it gives a description of Safety Platform hardware, software and application program and describes their development process according to the relevant CENELEC norms. In the end, it describes how the system was tested in the field and certified by an Independent Safety Assessor.
