Gap Waveguide Technology

The contents of this chapter have given an introduction to gap waveguide technology. The basis of this technology is the use of an artificial surface to create a stop band for parallel plate modes and to combine this artificial surface with some metallic path allowing wave propagation. Along the chapter, considerations about how to design and analyze the artificial surface and the waveguide under these circumstances have been initially presented. The second part of the chapter presents a summary on how to use this technology to design efficient antennas in the millimeter wave frequency range.
