The cities we know today are built on the foundations of ancient villages. Future communities will be built on the streets where we walk today. The future and the progress of the cities is in the destruction of the buildings that over the years remain old and obsolete, the demolition of structures is the discipline that takes the first step for our cities to evolve: to build you must destroy. In the present project a technical description is made of each one of the works that have to be carried out to execute a demolition with explosives: the design of the explosive charges, the study of the load-bearing elements of the building, the appropriate initiation sequence , the selection of an appropriate fall mechanism of the building, as well as the necessary protection measures to avoid projections. The practical application of this methodology has been developed in a case study of a building in Šibenik, Croatia. The objective of this analysis consists in the relationship of the discipline of the rigid solid, which dominates our day to day, with the demolition of structures by means of explosives. Through the combination of the previous disciplines, the importance of studying the behaviour of a structure during its demolition to achieve the desired objective, its destruction is demonstrated.
