Workflow for the geotechnical landslide model - case study from north Croatia
Geotechnical soil model is a result of extensive investigation techniques and represents the base for quality landslide characterization. Paper presents a geotechnical investigation process in a six distinctive phase workflow on the case study landslide Orehovcak in northern Croatia. The process starts at the office by collecting available information relating to the site topography, as well as all available geology maps and data. The second phase incorporates detailed field mapping and survey of structural damage on the buildings. Subsurface soil conditions are the focus of the third investigation phase and include standard soil investigative techniques with borehole drilling, sampling and laboratory sample testing, along with the electrical and seismic geophysical surveys (Electrical Resistivity Tomography – ERT, Shallow Seismic Refraction Survey – SRS and Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves – MASW). Extension to standard investigations is the fourth phase which incorporates extensive in-situ testing. In-situ testing included Vane Shear Test – VST, Flat Dilatometer Test – DMT, Cone Penetration Test – CPT and Dynamic Penetration Light – DPL. In the same phase network of ten inclinometers was installed for later observation purposes and model control. Obtained results gave an insight into soil stratigraphy structure which then resulted in the detailed landslide model as a part of the fifth investigation phase. In a final phase, the slope stability was arithmetically examined as a return stability analysis, landslide triggers were defined as well as remediation solution. Control measurements on installed inclinometers were carried out in all phases of the process.
