Sažetak
The study of high-entropy alloys (HEA, multicomponent alloys with near to equimolar composition) has reached its teenage with exciting achievements [1]. The transition from HEA to conventional alloys (CA) with the same chemical make-up is apparently very important, both for understanding their formation and for proper evaluation of their potential with respect to that of corresponding CAs. However, this transition has so far been studied in two systems only: crystalline (CrMnFeCo)1-xNix alloys [2] and amorphous (TiZrNbCu)1-xNix alloys [3]. In spite of very different atomic Figure 1 Mixing enthalpy vs atomic size structure and chemical make-up, both mismatch plot for studied alloys systems showed a pronounced change in properties on crossing from the HEA to CA concentration range. Here we compare the effects of HEA-CA transition on selected properties of these systems. We also show that in (CrMnFeCo)1- xNix system the best results for thermal stability, hardness and magnetism are obtained outside of HEA regime. [1] Focus issue on HEAs, J. Mat.
