Experimental behaviour of aluminium beam-to-column joint reinforced by steel
Since welding of aluminium alloys results in significant resistance reductions, the aluminium joints of prefabricated halls are almost exclusively formed using bolts. Therefore, it is common to apply steel reinforcements at joints through which the action effects are transmitted between the aluminium elements (e.g. steel inserts embedded into the aluminium column and beam elements). The results of ongoing experimental investigations of bolted aluminium beam-to- column joint reinforced by steel are presented. Moreover, the participants of SC9 meeting participated in the test of one joint specimen up to the failure.
