How to manage values in order to optimize knowledge management?
The primary objective of this research is threefold: (i) analyzing how the different types of values (business, relational, developments and contribution values) impact on Knowledge Management Creation (KMC) ; (ii) analyzing the mediating role of Value Congruence (VC) between the four values and KMC ; and (iii) analyzing if gender influences on the relationships between these constructs. A first sample of 202 respondents from Croatian companies was used to conduct an exploratory analysis to establish the measurement for VC and KMC. A larger second sample (601 respondents) from Spanish workers was used for confirmatory purposes assessing the entire research model which allows the analysis of the three aforementioned aims all at once, through Structural Equation Modeling with EQS 6.3 software. The results show that the four values types impact in different degree on KMC. Development values impacts highly on KMC and its total effect is due to the direct and indirect effect through VC. Business values also impact on KMC, but only directly, whereas the two reminder values do not influence KMC. Interesting to note that relational values have equivalent direct and indirect effect on KMC, but both in opposite direction resulting in a null total effect.
