Integration of Automation and Intelligent Subsystems in Postal Business Processes
Postal automation and intelligent equipment (track & trace, OCR, smart cards, etc.) are considered as part of postal technology and a broader business process improving and/or reengineering programmes. To be competitive in the new environment, postal enterprises have to use automation and intelligent subsystems to improve performance of core end-to-end process such as delivering time, cost, quality and flexibility in service offer. Multilevel model for postal systems architecture is developed and suggested as a framework to analyse real problems of postal automation and intelligent systems development and deployment. End-users and other relevant stakeholders (equipment suppliers, government, employees, etc.) have to be involved in functional requirements and interfaces specifications.
