Lysozyme and immunoglobulins in sera from children with atopic dermatitis
A significantly elevated catalytic activity of lysozyme (1,45-fold that in the control group of healthy children) was measured by a turbidimetric procedure in sera of the children aged 1-10 years with atopic dermatitis. Diagnostic specificity of lysozyme determination in the disease was 83,3%. The concentration of immunoglobuline A and immunoglobuline G were increased in sera of the children aged 1-3 years, whereas the concentration of the immunoglobuline M was mostly within the control group range. The activity of lysozyme and the concentrations of immunoglobulins, especially of immunoglobuline A, were found to be useful laboratory parameters of the immune response in children with atopic dermatitis-atopic eczema.
