Aviation Security after 9/11
At the beginning of the civil aviation, aircraft hijackings were relatively rare. In the 1960-ies, aircraft hijacks became frequent, especially in the US. Therefore, the International Civil Aviation Organization in 1974 adopted the first edition of Annex 17 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation, Security - Safeguarding International Civil Aviation against Acts of Unlawful Interference. After attack on the US on September 11, 2001 the International Civil Aviation Organization adopted new security measures. Paper is reviewing security measures after 2001 and challenges of civil aviation against terrorism and other acts of unlawful interference.
