Multicriteria Analysis of the Public City Transport Network for the Possible Introduction of Electric Busses
Reducing emissions of harmful exhaust gases is one of the main tasks of the 21st century. The problems of commercial fleets, such as public city buses, are considered to be the starting point for the introduction of electric vehicles. Electric buses have been successfully tested in several projects around the world and are becoming increasingly competitive with conventional buses. However, the reduced operational efficiency of electric buses is still a major obstacle to the transition process. The aim of this paper is to show the possibility of introducing electric buses into the public transport network based on the multi-criteria assessment of conventional buses currently in use. This paper presents a multi- criteria assessment of bus routes to case studies of the wider area of the city Sesvete according to predetermined evaluation criteria such as: travel time, line length, timeliness, comfort, safety, availability and operation. In the computer phase, the AHP multicriteria ranking method is applied to generate the final order of all considered variants or transport solutions. The analysis of the results show the possibility of introducing electric buses into the considered public transport network.
