Acute Toxicity of BEP, BEPA-4 and FPM-2 on Bacteria, Human Cell Culture and Rodents
Three new pyridinium compounds (1-Benzoylethylpyridinium-4-aldoxime chloride, BEPA-4 ; and 1-Phenacyl-2-methylpyridinium chloride , FPM-2) as reversible inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) were studied. The efficacy of mentioned compounds was tested on inhibition of bacteria growth (Pseudomonas putida), inhibition of cell culture growth (McCoy), and acute oral mice poisoning (C-57 Black mice). The IC50 of bacteria and cell culture were determined spectrophotomettrically using the VIS-Multiscan spectrophotometer measuring OD at 540 nm. To determine LD50 on mices, animals were treated with examined substances and observed during 24 hours. A mean value of single dose of BEP shows the following results: IC50 on. P. putida is 18, 3 mg/L ; IC50 on McCoy is 13, 5 mg/L ; and LD50 on C-57 Black mice is 120 mg/kg. An average values of BEPA-4 are: IC50 on P. putida is 18, 2 mg/L ; IC50 on McCoy is 10, 1 mg/L ; and LD50 on C-57 Black mice is 100 mg/kg. For FPM-2 values are: IC50 on P. putida is 10340 mg/kL, IC50 on McCoy is 910 mg/L and Ld50 on C-57 Black mice is 250 mg/kg.
