Transformation of Egalitarian Values: The Case of Croatian Modernization
Based on the concept of J. Županov, and the quantitative data from national representative questionnaire, the paper discusses the issue of egalitarian syndrome in contemporary Croatia. Based on SEMA-5 Scale, index of egalitarian values was constructed and measured against age, attitudes towards gender roles and class self- identification. It is shown that egalitarism is a signal of both traditional and modern values in different societal contexts. Croatian society is intertwined with complex relation between different aspects of modern, premodern and postmodern values.
